Export documents for Uzbekistan – what to keep in mind
When planning exports to Central Asia, many companies encounter additional documentation requirements. Export documents for Uzbekistan often include not only the standard set, but also a Certificate of Origin. Based on our experience, recipients in Uzbekistan are the ones who most frequently request this document.
Certificate of origin – when and where to obtain it?
The certificate of origin can be obtained either from the Customs Office or the National Chamber of Commerce. Legalization can be done by the exporter directly or through a customs agency. Importantly, the document doesn’t have to be issued by the same customs office handling the export declaration. This means the process can be optimized — the certificate can be prepared in advance, helping to shorten vehicle idle time at customs.
Air freight to Uzbekistan – delivery terms and cost breakdown
For smaller shipments (e.g. one pallet), many companies consider air freight.Especially when goods can’t be transported via the northern route. In such cases, it’s important to clarify delivery terms and cost sharing with the recipient.
Common Incoterms used:
-
CRF (Cost & Freight) – responsibility transfers to the recipient upon arrival. The importer pays terminal charges and local delivery costs.
-
CPT – may raise questions about who pays for storage and terminal fees.
-
DAP – full responsibility lies with the sender until the goods reach the delivery address. This option statistically carries the highest risk of unexpected costs.
Clever Logistics recommends discussing payment terms in detail before shipping to avoid misunderstandings and delays.
Storage and import clearance – who is responsible?
If the recipient handles customs clearance, it’s necessary to coordinate it with delivery. It’s worth agreeing in advance:
-
how many days of storage are included in the price,
-
who covers the cost if the goods are not cleared on time,
-
what happens if local transport is ready but the documents are not.
This kind of coordination between the recipient’s broker and the sender’s forwarder can be difficult, but it helps avoid unexpected charges and tension in business relationships.
